March 11, 2004 Philip A. Erardi, 90, of Syracuse, passed away Thursday at VA Medical Center. Mr. Erardi was retired from NY Central Railroad. He was an Army veteran of WWII and served with the Special Service Forces in Europe. He is survived by: his wife of 58 years, Astrid Erardi (they were married October 10, 1945, in Oslo, Norway); daughters, Anita (Lee), and Tina (Dennis); four grandchildren, Amy, Kristin, Kevin and Todd; four great-grandchildren; sister and brothers, Lucy, Marno, John and Vincent; sister-in-law Ruth Fagerholt of Norway. Predeceased by four brothers and two sisters, Nicholas, Peter, Joseph Jr., Luther, Veronica and Antonia. Visitation: 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Hollis Funeral Home, 1105 W. In July 2013, the Congressional Gold Medal was awarded, collectively, to the First Special Service Force, in recognition of its superior service during World War II.
